Your Spotify artist profile: image sizes, what gets removed, and the Artist Pick

•5 min read•Specs sourced

Your Spotify profile is the page every listener lands on after a song catches them. You control it in Spotify for Artists once you have access, and most of it is images. Here are the sizes and the rules, as Spotify publishes them.

The image sizes

ImageMinimum sizeWhere it appears
Avatar750 × 750 pxProfile in the mobile app, and search results
Header2660 × 1140 pxDesktop app and web player; Now Playing on smart TVs
Gallery690 × 500 pxYour About section, up to 125 images

All three accept JPEG, PNG or GIF, up to 20 MB per image.

What gets an image removed

  • Text, advertising or busy backgrounds.
  • Promotion of an upcoming tour or album release (that belongs in the Artist Pick, not the images).
  • Material that infringes copyright, trademarks or a person's image rights, such as a photo of someone used without their consent.
  • Offensive material.

Who can change them, and where

  • Who. Team members with Admin or Editor access in Spotify for Artists.
  • Avatar. On the web (not mobile web) or in the Spotify for Artists app. Search results can take up to 72 hours to show the new image.
  • Header. On the web only. Without a header, Spotify shows your avatar in its place.
  • Gallery. On the web or in the app; add, remove and reorder up to 125 images. You cannot remove the avatar entirely.

The Artist Pick

The Artist Pick is the slot at the top of your profile. You can pin a song, album, music video, playlist, concert, merch or podcast, with an optional image of at least 690 × 500 px and a short message. A Pick stays for 180 days unless you change it. Concerts drop off after the show or when they sell out, and merch drops off when it sells out. Admins and Editors can set it on the web or in the app.

Use it for whatever you want a new listener to hear first: usually your newest release, pinned on release day.
