Release passport

•Free tool•Runs in your browser

Every time an artist changes distributor, the same facts get retyped from memory: codes, spellings, dates, who owns what. A passport is the file you keep so you never have to.

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded or stored by Mazufa.

What goes in a passport

The identifiers (UPC for the release, one ISRC per recording), the exact credited spelling of the artist name, the release date, the label line and who owns the masters. The file is plain text in the open JSON format, so any distributor, society or lawyer can read it, and you can update it when something changes.

Why keep one

Stores identify a recording by its ISRC, not by its title. When the same recording is delivered twice with different codes it splits your streams, and when a name is spelled two ways it splits your profile. A passport keeps the one correct version of every fact in a place you control, which is exactly what you need on the day you move distributor.
