Paste the link you send people to — your smart link, your store page, your pre-save — and get a code you can put on a poster, a flyer, a merch table or a screen behind you. Download it as a PNG for the web or an SVG that stays sharp at any print size.

Everything here runs inside your browser. Your link and your logo file are never uploaded, stored or sent anywhere, and no account is needed. The code is generated on this device, which also means nobody — including us — can see or change where it points once you have printed it.

A logo in the centre covers real data. This code carries error correction level M, which can survive roughly 15% damage, and a logo at 18% of the width eats most of that budget before a scuff, a fold or bad light takes the rest. It is not free decoration. If you add one, scan the finished file with at least two different phones, at the size you are actually printing, before you send it to a printer.

No logo — best for scanning.

Before you print it

  • Test it with two different phones. One old, one new, ideally one iPhone and one Android. A code that only works on your own handset is not finished.
  • Keep the quiet zone. The blank border is part of the code. Do not crop it, do not let a background image or a fold run into it.
  • Print it at 2.5 cm or larger. That is about an inch, for a code read from arm's length. Roughly, the printed width should be a tenth of the distance people will scan it from — a poster read from two metres wants about 20 cm.
  • Do not invert it unless you have tested it. Light code on a dark background looks good on a sleeve and fails on plenty of scanners. Dark on light is the safe default.
  • Point it at a link you control. A smart link or a page on your own domain can be re-pointed later. A raw Spotify URL printed on 500 posters cannot be changed when the release moves.

What actually makes a QR code work

Contrast, not colour

A scanner does not see your brand palette, it sees light and dark. This page measures the relative luminance of the two colours you pick and warns you when they fall below a 4:1 ratio, because under a venue light or a phone camera's auto-exposure a pair that looked fine on your monitor turns into mush. Deep colours on white are safe. Two mid-tones are not, and no amount of wanting it to work will change that.

Error correction is a budget, and you spend it

Every code here is built at error correction level M, which means about 15% of the modules can be unreadable and the link still resolves. That margin exists for the real world: a thumbprint, a crease, a bad print run, glare from a window. A centre logo spends most of it before anything has gone wrong. Shorter links help too — a short URL needs a lower version, which means fewer and bigger modules, which means an easier read from further away.

PNG for screens, SVG for print

The PNG is a fixed grid of pixels at the size you chose — right for a story, a thumbnail or a slide. The SVG describes the same code as shapes, so a printer can scale it to a metre without a single soft edge. If you are sending artwork to anyone who will lay it out for you, send the SVG and tell them not to rasterise it and not to place anything over the quiet zone.
